DIY: Chemical-Free Spring Cleaning

Calling all DIYers and folks who love natural products! These homemade cleaning supplies will not only save you money, but will leave your apartment looking shiny and new once you’re done with it.

  1. Tea: Black tea is great for removing dirt and adding a nice sheen to any surface. You can use it to wipe down just about anything in your home, from the floors, to the foggy bathroom mirrors.
  2. Vinegar: Mix the vinegar with salt and apply the mixture to your shower tiles to help remove mildew.
  3. Grapefruit: The acidic content in grapefruit will loosen up any dirt and grime. Cut a grapefruit in half, then sprinkle some salt on it to create a scrub.
  4. Lemon Juice: The high acidity in lemon helps to remove rust and fingerprints, to everything in between.

How to Decorate your Apartment for an Oscars Themed Event

  • Cut black felt fabric sheets into rectangles about 2 ½ by 3 ½ inches, in addition to a single strip for each rectangle about ½ inch wide. Next, pinch each rectangle in the middle, wrap the strip around, and glue to keep in place. Then, superglue each bow to a glass of your choice.
  • Start by folding a square black napkin into thirds. Scrunch the middle section. Then, tie a small piece of black fabric around the middle of the napkin.
  • Create a Hollywood Walk of Fame in your living room by taping large silver stars to the floor.
