How to Pack for Your Summer Vacation

Getting ready to leave for your family vacation? Not before you ready these packing tips!

While folding may not sound ideal, take the time to do it properly. You’ll save space by packing your outfits neatly together and you won’t have to waste time by ironing out those wrinkles once you’ve arrived.

Use your shoes! They have their own built in packing space and can be used to store socks, underwear, chargers, and other small items that would otherwise float around.

On the bottom of your suitcase you should place your heavier items such as jeans and shoes. Try to make each level as flat as possible. Then arrange smaller items like electronics, jewelry, toiletries, etc. Finally, any items that you may need to reach easily, place near the surface.

For other miscellaneous items, you can decide to leave the sunscreen and shampoo at home, and pick them up once you arrive to your destination. This is especially helpful if you’re flying and you’re taking a carry-on.

Tips for Throwing a BBQ Party

BBQ Party Feast

Having a party during the summertime is something that many people do. While it’s always great to throw a party, it’s even better if you can throw a BBQ party! It’s always a good option to have amazing food that has been put on a nice grill and topped with a sweet, delicious barbecue sauce. Add in the fun and laughs from friends, co-workers and family members and you have yourself a fantastic time… but you don’t just want to just put on any party, you want it to be a tasty celebration. Here are some amazing tips that will help you get things together for your party.

  • Make things fun and interesting. It’s always nice to attend a BBQ gathering, but you don’t want the same thing time and time again. Get creative with things… use mason jars as cups, coffee filters to hold your hot dogs, Popsicle sticks to label condiments, etc. You don’t have to have the same setup as usual… different things will make your party amazing!
  • Different menu items bring life to the party. While barbecue is always great, you can add a few items to your menu that are different. You can make walking tacos, cooking the meat in a skillet on the grill… it’s a great item to have and it’s easy to walk around with!
  • Cool and sweet treats! It’s nice to round off a meal with a sweet treat. You can fill a kiddie pool with ice and have Popsicle’s waiting for your guests. You can also have mini cupcake liners filled with ice cream ready in the freezer. They’re both easy to walk around with and you will stay cool at the same time!

These tips will help you when you’re ready to put on an awesome summer BBQ party! Get ready to have fun and serve some marvelous food!

Visit NPS for their Centennial Celebration this Summer

Did you know that the National Park Service will be celebrating 100 years of service come this August?

If not, you may want to start reserving your camping spots now as NPS will be offering 16 days of free admission to its 127 parks.

One of the closest parks to you is Joshua Tree National Park. Though names after its unique tree, the rock formations are really impressive – they are oversized boulders that glitter in the So Cal sun. For rock climbers this place is an oasis, as they travel from near and far to scale the boulders.

If you prefer stargazing, you’ll love the fact that you can see the Milky Way so clearly for the desert floor, as the light pollution is far away reserved to the neighboring city of Palm Springs.

There are nine campsites scattered through the park, with just two that provide running water.

Try to plan your trip here around the weather, as you’ll definitely want to avoid camping and hiking here in 100 degree weather.
